March is National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month

March is National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month

The month of March has been designated as National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month for over 15 years. The awareness campaign aims to support those living with the condition by educating the public about cerebral palsy. Caused by brain damage (often sustained at birth), cerebral palsy impacts the body’s ability to move and balance. Children diagnosed with cerebral palsy may not reach milestones such as rolling over, sitting, or waking. People with the condition can experience mild to severe symptoms, which may be managed by certain therapies.

To get involved with spreading awareness, you can wear green as a symbol of your involvement, spend time with someone that has cerebral palsy, join an awareness activity or campaign to learn more about the condition, or donate to a research organization. There are lots of ways to show your support!
